HONDURAS AND GUATEMALA COOKSTOVES
IMPROVED COOKSTOVES FOR RURAL COMMUNITIES
The Proyecto Mirador constructs and distributes improved cookstoves to the rural populations of Honduras and Guatemala. In addition to significantly reducing carbon emissions by phasing out smoky, inefficient traditional stoves, the project helps avoid and eliminate acute respiratory diseases that were plaguing the rural population, especially women, children and the elderly. The project also empowers communities by making them equal partners in the project, since the latter acquire and provide corresponding local materials to make the cookstoves work, thereby contributing to a green local circular economy.
